There you will find a monumental sheepfold where shepherd Henk's Veluwe Heath Sheep give birth to their lambs around this time in spring. On 7 March 2026 it's Lambing Day and you can pet and cuddle them.

3. Explosion of colour in the botanical garden
Arboretum Belmontum is ééone of the largest botanical gardens in the Netherlands. You can take a lovely stroll among the extraordinary trees, flowers and plants here. Did you know that there are more than 850 species of rhododendrons? In spring, the garden is an explosion of colours. And then you are treated to fabulous views over the Rhine during your walk. A cup of coffee and cake in the atmospheric Coach House will complete your day.

4. Walking with alpaca’s in the Buurtbosch

Take your bike (or rent one at De Werelt) and go for a ride through the beautiful countryside of Lunteren, Ede and Ederveen. The taste bike route takes you through meadows, along streams and between farms, where you will find the tastiest local produce. From a spicy award-winning cheese at Remeker to a deliciously refreshing goat's milk ice cream at Jowis Zolder. The route passes De Werelt, so you just get on at the hotel.
